Slack integration

Send governance notifications to your Slack workspace.

Overview

The Slack integration enables VerifyWise to send real-time notifications about AI governance activities directly to your Slack workspace. Keep your team informed about model updates, risk assessments, compliance changes, and more without leaving Slack.

What you can do with Slack integration

  • Receive notifications: Get real-time alerts about governance events in Slack channels
  • Route by channel: Send different notification types to specific channels
  • Multiple workspaces: Connect multiple Slack workspaces if needed
  • Stay informed: Keep your team updated without requiring them to log into VerifyWise

Connecting Slack

To connect your Slack workspace to VerifyWise:

  1. Navigate to Integrations from the main menu
  2. Click Configure on the Slack integration card
  3. You will be redirected to Slack to authorize the connection
  4. Select the Slack workspace you want to connect
  5. Review the permissions requested and click Allow
  6. You will be redirected back to VerifyWise with the connection active
You must have permission to install apps in your Slack workspace. If you see an error during authorization, contact your Slack workspace administrator.

Required Slack permissions

VerifyWise requests the following Slack permissions:

  • channels:read: View channels to allow notification routing
  • chat:write: Send messages to channels
  • incoming-webhook: Create webhooks for notifications
  • groups:read: View private channels for routing options

These permissions allow VerifyWise to send notifications but do not give access to read your messages or user data.

Managing Slack connections

After connecting Slack, you can manage your integrations from the Slack management page:

  1. Navigate to Integrations
  2. Click Manage on the Slack integration card
  3. View your connected workspaces and their status

Integration table

The integrations table displays:

  • Workspace: The name of the connected Slack workspace
  • Channel: The default channel for notifications
  • Status: Whether the connection is active
  • Actions: Options to configure routing or delete the connection

Notification routing

Configure where different types of notifications are sent by setting up notification routing rules. This allows you to direct specific notifications to relevant channels.

To configure notification routing:

  1. Click the routing icon for a workspace connection
  2. Select the notification types to route
  3. Choose the target channel for each notification type
  4. Save your routing configuration

Available notification types

You can route the following notification types to specific channels:

  • Model updates: New models added, status changes, or lifecycle events
  • Risk alerts: New risks identified or risk severity changes
  • Compliance updates: Assessment progress or control status changes
  • Policy changes: Policy status updates or approaching review dates
  • Vendor updates: Vendor status changes or new vendor risks
  • Training notifications: Training program updates or completions

Adding another workspace

To connect an additional Slack workspace:

  1. Navigate to the Slack management page
  2. Click "Add to Slack" button
  3. Follow the authorization flow for the new workspace
  4. Configure notification routing for the new connection

Removing a Slack connection

To disconnect a Slack workspace:

  1. Navigate to the Slack management page
  2. Find the workspace connection in the table
  3. Click the delete icon in the actions column
  4. Confirm the removal when prompted
Removing a Slack connection stops all notifications to that workspace immediately. You can reconnect at any time by going through the authorization flow again.

Troubleshooting

Notifications are not appearing

  • Verify the Slack connection is active in the integrations table
  • Check that notification routing is configured for the expected channel
  • Ensure the VerifyWise app has not been removed from your Slack workspace
  • Confirm that the target channel still exists

Authorization failed

  • Ensure you have permission to install apps in your Slack workspace
  • Try again after clearing your browser cache
  • Contact your Slack workspace administrator if restrictions are in place
