Slack integration

Send governance notifications to your Slack workspace.

Overview

The Slack integration lets VerifyWise send real-time notifications about AI governance activities to your Slack workspace. Your team can stay on top of model updates, risk assessments, compliance changes and more without leaving Slack.

What you can do with Slack integration

  • Receive notifications: Get real-time alerts about governance events in Slack channels
  • Route by channel: Send different notification types to specific channels
  • Multiple workspaces: Connect more than one Slack workspace if needed
  • Stay informed: Keep your team updated without requiring them to log into VerifyWise

Connecting Slack

To connect your Slack workspace:

  1. Go to Integrations from the main menu
  2. Click Configure on the Slack integration card
  3. You'll be redirected to Slack to authorize the connection
  4. Select the Slack workspace you want to connect
  5. Review the permissions and click Allow
  6. You'll be sent back to VerifyWise with the connection active
You need permission to install apps in your Slack workspace. If you see an error during authorization, contact your Slack workspace administrator.

Required Slack permissions

VerifyWise requests the following Slack permissions:

  • channels:read: View channels to allow notification routing
  • chat:write: Send messages to channels
  • incoming-webhook: Create webhooks for notifications
  • groups:read: View private channels for routing options

These permissions let VerifyWise send notifications but don't give it access to read your messages or user data.

Managing Slack connections

After connecting Slack, you can manage your integrations from the Slack management page:

  1. Go to Integrations
  2. Click Manage on the Slack integration card
  3. View your connected workspaces and their status

Integration table

The integrations table shows:

  • Workspace: The name of the connected Slack workspace
  • Channel: The default channel for notifications
  • Status: Whether the connection is active
  • Actions: Options to configure routing or delete the connection

Notification routing

You can configure where different notification types go by setting up routing rules. This lets you direct specific notifications to relevant channels.

To configure notification routing:

  1. Click the routing icon for a workspace connection
  2. Select the notification types to route
  3. Choose the target channel for each notification type
  4. Save your routing configuration

Available notification types

You can route these notification types to specific channels:

  • Membership and roles: User invites, role changes and removals
  • Projects and organizations: Project creation, updates and organization changes
  • Policy reminders and status: Policy approaching review dates or status updates
  • Evidence and task alerts: New evidence uploads, task assignments and completions
  • Control or policy changes: Control status changes and policy updates

Adding another workspace

To connect an additional Slack workspace:

  1. Go to the Slack management page
  2. Click "Add to Slack"
  3. Follow the authorization flow for the new workspace
  4. Configure notification routing for the new connection

Removing a Slack connection

To disconnect a Slack workspace:

  1. Go to the Slack management page
  2. Find the workspace connection in the table
  3. Click the delete icon in the actions column
  4. Confirm the removal when prompted
Removing a Slack connection stops all notifications to that workspace right away. You can reconnect at any time by going through the authorization flow again.

Troubleshooting

Notifications are not appearing

  • Check that the Slack connection is active in the integrations table
  • Verify notification routing is set up for the right channel
  • Make sure the VerifyWise app hasn't been removed from your Slack workspace
  • Confirm the target channel still exists

Authorization failed

  • Make sure you have permission to install apps in your Slack workspace
  • Try again after clearing your browser cache
  • Contact your Slack workspace administrator if restrictions are in place

Frequently asked questions

Can I send notifications to private channels?

Yes, if you grant the appropriate permissions during authorization. The VerifyWise Slack app needs to be invited to private channels before it can send messages there.

Who can see the notifications?

Anyone with access to the Slack channel where notifications are sent can see them. Plan your routing accordingly so the right people have visibility.

Can I customize the notification messages?

Notification messages use standard formats designed to be clear and actionable. Custom message formatting isn't available right now.

How often are notifications sent?

Notifications go out in real-time as events happen in VerifyWise. There's no batching or delay.
