What is VerifyWise?

Is VerifyWise open source or a paid product?
VerifyWise is fully open source. We also offer a SaaS version with no setup hassle, added features like managed backups, secure hosting, and faster updates. Both versions share the same core codebase.

What’s the difference between the open-source and SaaS version of VerifyWise?
- Open-source: Free to use, self-hosted, requires technical setup.
- SaaS: Hosted and maintained by us, includes tenant isolation, encrypted storage, regular updates, and priority support.
- Enterprise: Includes everything in SaaS, plus custom onboarding, premium support SLAs, advanced integrations (e.g. SSO, LeanIX, ServiceNow), dedicated infrastructure if needed, and tailored compliance reporting. Best for regulated industries or large organizations with strict requirements.

How do I start using VerifyWise?
If you’re using the SaaS version, just sign up and create your organization workspace. For the open-source version, follow our GitHub setup guide to install VerifyWise on your own infrastructure.

Yes. VerifyWise includes workflows tailored for high-risk AI systems, including documentation, conformity assessment tracking, and audit readiness.

Do you offer onboarding or support?
Yes. SaaS and Enterprise users get onboarding help and access to support. Open-source users can use the Discord server for community support.

What compliance frameworks does VerifyWise support?

How do I assess an AI system under the EU AI Act?
Each registered AI system can be assessed using a built-in checklist aligned with EU AI Act requirements. You can document intended purpose, risk classification, technical documentation, data governance, human oversight, and conformity assessment evidence.

Can I manage ISO 42001 compliance with VerifyWise?
Yes. VerifyWise includes an ISO 42001 module that helps document AI policies, assign roles, track controls, and perform internal audits. It’s tailored to help organizations build an AI Management System (AIMS).

Does VerifyWise help assign responsibilities for AI governance?
Absolutely. Each AI system and compliance record can have assigned owners, contributors, reviewers, and approvers. You can track accountability across lifecycle events like development, deployment, and retirement.

Yes. You can upload files or link external documentation to any AI system or assessment. All attachments are versioned and access-controlled.

Can I track when AI systems are retrained, updated, or decommissioned?
Yes. VerifyWise allows you to log major lifecycle events, add change notes, and attach related documentation. These updates help show ongoing governance and change control.

Does VerifyWise support audit readiness?
Yes. It stores all compliance data in an exportable format (reports). You can generate audit reports showing how and when assessments were completed, who was responsible, and what evidence was collected.

How often should I update my assessments?
That depends on your internal policies and the nature of the AI system. We recommend re-assessing during major system changes or at least once a year. You can also set review reminders in the platform.

Yes. You can maintain a risk register at the system level and organization level. Risks can be categorized, scored, assigned to owners, and linked to mitigation plans.

Yes. The platform includes guided workflows for documenting conformity assessments under the EU AI Act. This includes self-assessment, human oversight, post-market monitoring plans, and more.

Pricing is currently being finalized. For now, access to the full platform is free for early adopters who sign up during launch. Paid plans will be announced soon and will remain competitive for organizations of all sizes.

Can I switch from open-source to SaaS later?
Yes. You can export your data from your self-hosted instance and import it into the SaaS platform. We’ll offer migration support when needed.

What is the license for the open-source version?
VerifyWise is licensed under the AGPL-3.0 license. This ensures open collaboration while protecting the codebase from being used in closed-source commercial forks.

Are there usage limits on the open-source version?
No. You can run it with unlimited users, projects, or systems. The only limitation is your own infrastructure capacity.

Do I need a commercial license to use VerifyWise in my company?
No, unless you require support, SLA guarantees, or enterprise-specific features. Many companies use the open-source version internally. For critical deployments, we recommend the SaaS or Enterprise edition.
